Mrs. Hewitt’s Cookie Bite Spiders

Mrs. Hewitt’s Cookie Bites make these quick and easy and double as a kid friendly activity if you’re looking for one.
Ingredients (per spider treat):
  • 2 Mrs. Hewitt’s Cookie Bites (Chocolate Chip, Tuxedo, and Double Chocolate Mint are all delicious!)
  • 8 Gluten-free Pretzel Sticks*
  • Frosting
  • Vanilla icing OR squeezable white icing
  • 2 candy corn
  • 2 candy eyes**
Directions:
  1. Trim candy corn to make teeth. I cut in the middle of the orange section and then shave down the bottom a bit to keep it thin. Set aside.
  2. Put frosting on the flat side of one cookie. I used chocolate because it worked with all 3 flavor cookie bites. You want it relatively thick so the toppings will sink in and frosting push up around them. If it isn’t quite thick enough you can always add a small dollop on top to help the top cookie stick.
  3. Stick 8 pretzel sticks into the frosting—four out each side to form legs.
  4. Stick two trimmed candy corn “teeth” in the front center, slightly sticking out from the edge, between the sets of pretzel spider legs.
  5. Top with a second cookie.
  6. Put a small dot of squeezable white icing OR vanilla frosting on the back of each candy/sprinkle eye, and stick them on top of your spider above the teeth.
*I use Snyders Gluten-free Pretzel Sticks
**I pulled sprinkle eyes out of Sprinklefetti Monster Mash sprinkles. Sprinklefetti is gluten-free, and you can still order their Halloween sprinkles on Amazon with next day Prime shipping. I have also seen candy eyes in the baking aisles at a couple grocery stores, but availability and being gluten-free may be hard to come by.
